Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in physics, optical/mechanical/electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with optical design and fabrication of imaging systems (Optics Studio/CODE V).
- 5 years of experience developing optical components and/or systems for mass production.
- 5 years of experience characterizing optical systems and components in a lab environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Graduate degree in physics or optical/mechanical/electrical engineering.
- 8 years of experience in optical design with a focus on micro-optics, molded glass, or plastic optics, and designing for production.
- 5 years of experience working with manufacturing partners to bring optical systems from the prototype phase to mass production.
- 2 years of experience with a mathematical coding language (e.g. MATLAB, Python, etc.).
- 2 years of experience with optical metrology equipment and techniques.

Responsibilities
- Concept, design, and prototype optical systems while working closely with optomechanical engineering team members.
- Evaluate the manufacturability of optical systems and contribute to design and process improvements to ensure a successful production.
- Develop test protocols for optical components and systems to be implemented internally and at external partner fabrication and assembly locations.
- Manage technical relationships with fabrication and manufacturing partners.
- Balance product requirements, cost, and compatibility with mass production processes throughout.
