Come work alongside expert software engineers, hardware engineers and research scientists to create the technology that makes VR and AR pervasive and universal. The Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today.The focus of our team is on computer graphics with primary research on the efficient synthesis of high quality images for AR/VR systems. Our current research areas include custom graphics hardware, rendering algorithms for AR/VR, such as ray casting and machine learning based image synthesis, and differentiable & inverse rendering.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural tradeoffs required to rapidly deliver software solutions.
  • Analyze, design, develop and debug real-time VR and AR technology stacks for advanced prototypes and user experiences.
  • Contribute high quality communication of research to grow expertise within Facebook/Oculus and the wider research community.
  • Design and prototyping of novel graphics algorithms to enable novel AR/VR experiences.
Minimum Qualification
  • Understanding and hands-on experiences in at least one of real-time or offline rendering/physically based materials and lighting/texture compression/sparse image representation/ML-based graphics rendering related research.
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
  • Communication experience and demonstrated experience working across disciplines and teams to drive solutions.
  • 9+ years experience creating software for real-time environments such as games or robotics.
Preferred Qualification
  • 10+ years of experience working on procedural generation and rendering of graphics content to achieve efficient real-time rendering.
  • 10+ years of experience working on texture compression related research projects.
