Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R) brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The charter of the Graphics Research group within FRL-R is to make exceptional consumer virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences targeting five to ten years out.We are currently seeking talented Graphic Architects to help develop forward looking graphics pipelines for AR and VR, and solve the next generation of challenges in the visual computing space. The focus of this role is on computer graphics with the primary responsibility being the efficient synthesis of high-quality images, including leveraging and developing state of the art techniques. This full-time position requires a background in computer science, computer architecture, or similar areas; and a strong background in graphics, math, and programming.

Responsibilities
  • Architectural exploration for R&D, including architecture definition, specification, and models for one or more chip subsystems or features
  • Work across disciplines, brainstorm ideas, work in new technology areas, coordinate multiple initiatives, drive a concept into a research prototype to drive adoption
  • Drive architectural/design studies architecture prototypes as well as implementation prototypes using ASIC emulation and FPGA prototypes
  • Work cross-functionally with SW, FW, Modeling, and development teams
  • Works effectively as an individual and in a multidisciplinary international team
Minimum Qualification
  • 3+ years of experience as a Graphics/Silicon Architect, Performance/Power Architect, or Digital Design Engineer for production silicon.
  • 1+ years of experience in analyzing, and presenting architectural design trade-offs with respect to properties such as throughput, latency, performance, power, area.
  • 1+ years of experience in employing quantitative methods to debug, diagnose and drive the resolution of cross-disciplinary system issues.
  • 3+ years of experience in defining and maintaining functional, performance, and power models in C/C++ or Python.
Preferred Qualification
  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences
  • 1+ years of experience with GPUs, high performance computing, or low-power computing
  • 1+ years of experience with thermally constrained performance optimization on embedded devices
  • 1+ years of experience with vertical designs impacting software and hardware components, with stress on ideal partitioning
