The Facebook Reality Labs AR/VR team at Facebook is helping people around the world come together and connect through world-class Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality hardware and software. From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, XR Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to product while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they unlock.As an Engineering Manager working on the AR/VR Input Team at Facebook, you’ll be driving foundational efforts to explore and realize the future of Human-Computer interaction. We believe that building intuitive, natural input systems and the APIs that power them has the potential to radically transform the way we interact with today’s and tomorrow’s devices. Our mission is to move these technologies out of research and into shipping products.

Responsibilities
  • Build and grow a high performance team designing and implementing core interaction systems, libraries and tools through strong recruiting and people management practices
  • Set the direction and goals for the team, in terms of project impact, product quality, and engineering efficiency
  • Plan and coordinate major initiatives such as phased onboarding of internal and external developers to novel interaction models leveraging emerging computer vision and machine learning based device capabilities
  • Manage a team of engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
Minimum Qualification
  • 7+ years experience working on systems software in a large-scale C or C++ code base
  • 3+ years experience managing and growing software engineers
  • Experience with processes including: source control, bug tracking, design documentation, and sprint planning based Software Development
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools
  • Relevant experience with modern game engines, user experience development platforms or productization of novel input systems
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience developing interaction toolkits, and tools for developers
  • Deep understanding of 3D Graphics/Programming
  • Experience hardening emerging technologies, working closely with ML systems
