Our contact lenses enable the display eyewear to deliver the most advanced visual experiences available while simultaneously preserving the style and comfort of consumer pleasing glasses.

Innovega (www.emacula.io) is expanding its engineering team to include a Demo Engineer who will be responsible for hands on assembly, maintenance, and execution of our demos and eyewear systems. This person will also lead demo content generation, develop software assets for demos, and assist with mechanical and electrical design.

This position will report to the VP of Engineering and work closely with the clinicians, vendors, fabricators, and consultants to bring together creative ideas for delivering visceral experiences to demo participants.

This role can be seen as the merger of many disciplines and skills (engineering, craftsmanship, hardware and software hacking, and technician) and the right individual will appreciate the balance that these disciplines bring to every project. To succeed as a Demo Engineer, you must be passionate about tackling challenging projects with limited resources and pushing yourself to develop skills to meet the objectives.

Responsibilities

·      Assist with Design and Development of electro-opto-mechanical eyewear systems (Engineer)

·      Develop Windows and Android based programs and applications to enable the demo functionality (Engineer)

·      Precision assembly of complex electro-opto-mechanical systems that must meet demanding performance and aesthetic criteria (Craftsman)

·      Modification and Integration of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf components to enable new functionality (Hacker)

·      Integration, Test, Debug, and Rework of eyewear, supporting hardware, content, and software to deliver required performance (Technician)

Technical Requirements

·      Educational background in engineering or science (BS preferred, but not required)

·      Hands on experience with precision mechanical and electrical hardware systems

·      Demonstrated skill in developing content/applications/websites that operates on Windows and/or Mobile platforms

·      Experience hacking systems together to bring new functionality to a demonstration level

·      Examples of Creativity and Artistic talent that is applied to technical projects that exceeded customer expectations

·      Working knowledge of device I/O (I2C, SPI, UART, MIPI, USB, Ethernet, Wifi, Bluetooth)

Non-Technical Requirements

·      Demonstrated ability to rise out of ambiguity and deliver results with limited guidance

·      Demonstrated collaboration experience in multifunctional teams

·      Excellent hand skills including detailed precision handling of fragile components and electro-optical system integration

·      Demonstrated aptitude at parsing research vs development and remaining focused on delivering successful project outcomes

·      Demonstrated ability to meet challenging deadlines with high quality results
