A Technical Artist is the key bridge between artists and engineers, and Facebook Reality Labs is currently looking for a passionate team member to closely work with graphics programmers to build the next cutting-edge real-time graphics and technology for AR/VR.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, define and develop content with a lighting, rendering, and shading focus in a real-time environment
  • Define lighting and shading methods to drive future looking technology roadmaps and rendering features
  • Author shaders using code or visual tools like Amplify or Shader Graph
  • Work closely with the engineering team to design, manage and maintain lighting and rendering pipelines
  • Instruct artists and designers on best practices for lighting and shading techniques across a range of products and use cases
  • Prototype, profile and optimize lighting and shaders to achieve desired looks under performance constraints
  • Resolve issues with cross-functional leads
Minimum Qualification
  • 5+ years of experience in game development as a Technical Art Director or Look Development Artist
  • Understanding of lighting, color, shading, and photography techniques
  • Experience writing shader code or utilize tools like Amplify or Shader Graph
  • Experience working across a wide variety of lighting methods, including HDR, IBL, pre-baked, and dynamic lighting
  • Experience working across styles (graphic, realistic)
  • Experience with game profiling and optimization techniques in a real-time rendering environment
  • Experience shipping products with stringent runtime performance constraints, such as complex mobile or 3D applications or games
  • Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred Qualification
  • Knowledge of real-time graphics pipeline concepts
  • Experience with Unity
  • Virtual reality experience (Rift, VIVE, Gear VR, etc.)
