Facebook Reality Labs Research is developing fundamental technologies for future virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) systems. The Sensors and Systems Research (SSR) team gathers world-class expertise and talents in sensors, optics, silicon, compute, algorithm, and system architecture. We have a long term vision and an ambitious research roadmap. We have a diverse, dynamic and collaborative culture. We are looking for a research manager that will partner with our project leads and contribute to the success of our programs across the organization. Responsibilities
  • Collaborating and supporting research leads on long term projects. Partnering with research leads to set strategy, direction, and goals. Communicating and putting processes in place to execute our vision and roadmap.
  • Keeping partners and stakeholders informed and involved. Building the appropriate communication channels both within and outside the team. Helping to articulate the research and technical merits and impacts to cross functional partners.
  • Keeping the leads and the team unblocked and effective. Ensuring the members of their team are able to work at their highest potential and able to play to their strengths. Helping resolving conflicts to allow the team to move forward.
  • Contributing and negotiating external collaboration agreements, SOWs and NRE discussions. Managing project milestones, deliverables, and payments.
  • Promoting and building external partner relationships, maintaining foundry supports, helping to form new industry and research consortium alliances.
Minimum Qualification
  • PhD in EE, CS and related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on sensor technology development and productization experience, including working with sensor vendors and foundries.
  • 3+ years combined technical program management and business strategic planning experience.
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience in an industry research institute.
