This engineer role is for a current student who will be graduating soon. This role will be a part of an advanced optical film development team collaborating with displays, optics and metrology engineers for scaling advanced liquid crystal films that unlock new architectures and features for AR/VR products.

Responsibilities
  • Develop process and new materials for advancing liquid crystal optical films.
  • Support publishing engineering specifications and requirements to ensure quality parts in high volume manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to deliver advanced optical films for new product introductions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
Minimum Qualification
  • Currently has, or in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering or other relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Key understanding in at least one of these areas: roll-to-roll film process, precision alignment, patterning and coating processes, liquid crystal and photo-alignment materials.
  • Understanding of different methods of how polarizing and diffraction elements work and are made.
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualification
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience designing optical experiments and optical testing.
  • Experience with AR/VR lenses and display optics (LCD and OLED).
  • Experience building polarization and diffraction films.
