Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) Sensors Team is helping build novel products in Augmented and Virtual Reality. Facebook AR/VR research and development in Sensors and Sensing Systems is driving the state-of-the-art forward through relentless innovation. Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products at Facebook. We are looking for candidates with experience in Motion Sensor characterization to manage Characterization Engineering efforts within the FRL Sensors Team, while collaborating with experts across multiple domains.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other managers, researchers and engineers across both hardware and research teams at Facebook to develop experiments, prototypes, and characterization methodologies for AR/VR systems and wearables
  • Lead a team of engineers to help design, setup, and run practical experiments on motion sensors such as IMUs, Pressure Sensors and Magnetometers
  • Own execution, interpretation, and reporting of sensor characterization results
  • Own development of Motion Sensor characterization roadmap, engineering systems, and hiring
  • Develop and manage the implementation of scalable test infrastructure
  • Support system bring-up and debug activities
Minimum Qualification
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years’ experience with setup, management, and execution of sensor characterization equipment such as temperature chamber, vacuum chamber, shaker table, PCB bend test, and rate table
  • 5+ years’ hands-on laboratory experience with mechanical and electrical hardware bring-up and debug
  • 2+ years’ experience in leading Engineers in characterization, prototyping, and development activities
  • Demonstrated experience in characterization of shipping mid to high volume products
  • Demonstrated experience with gyroscopes, accelerometers, pressure sensor and/or magnetometer characterization and qualification
  • Experience with statistical analysis using MATLAB or Python
  • Demonstrated experience generating high-quality test & characterization reports

Preferred Qualification
  • 2+ years' experience with scripting environments such as MATLAB and/or Python
  • 2+ years’ experience in test software development using C/C++
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a highly cross-functional team environment
  • Experience in testing and characterization of consumer electronics devices
  • Familiarity with the emerging Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies
  • High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving skills
