Facebook Reality Labs is seeking a Content Acquisition Manager to source, acquire, and distribute video content for new AR/VR products. In this role, you will participate in every stage of our content acquisition process - defining programming strategy through analyzing data, identifying and vetting content opportunities, driving business terms, and working cross-functionally to amplify our existing content portfolio. This role demands someone with the ability to blend quantitative output with a strong subjective filter, dynamic interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively drive change in a fast-paced environment. This is a highly cross-functional position connecting and collaborating with external content partners, as well as internal teams such as Legal, Production, Business Development, Product and more to explore and implement world class media for our global user base. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing team and truly own bringing new content to the Oculus platform for virtual viewing experiences.
Responsibilities
- Drive the formulation and communication of our content strategy internally and externally, using data to drive key business decisions and optimize our content portfolio
- Identify and pitch new content categories and partners that are enticing to Oculus consumers for immersive and traditional content types
- Work with business development and legal for content rights clearances, ensuring content meets quality standards for distribution according to provided guidelines
- Track and evaluate content, both off platform for licensing opportunities and on platform for impact analysis, and work collaboratively with our Finance and Business Development teams to value content
- Build models and presentations supporting content strategies and deal proposals
- Monitor and report on content performance and advocate for improvements or optimizations
- Devise and propose publishing schedules
- use awareness of pop culture to inform scheduling strategy
- Collaborate with internal teams including product and engineering to improve tools and launch new features to support the integration of new content
- Anticipate bottlenecks, make tradeoffs, and balance business needs vs. technical constraints
- Take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, and build efficient, repeatable processes that can enable the business to scale
- Complete ad-hoc and long-term projects, including trackers and competitive analyses, to support content strategy and content operations
Minimum Qualification
- 6+ years of relevant work experience in content acquisition, BD/partnerships, digital production/publishing, or media
- Capacity to work autonomously, drive processes independently, and move projects to completion
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment while documenting processes, workflows, and schedules
- Experience planning, organizing, executing, and time management to meet all deadlines
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- Experience with content management systems and publishing/programming tooling
- Flexibility, agility, and willingness to take on multiple areas of responsibility in an evolving and occasionally ambiguous environment
- BA or BS Degree
Preferred Qualification
- Background in the VR and/or stereoscopic industry or on new product development
- Experience developing digital content acquisition strategies (bonus if in VR, 3D rectilinear video, or Media space)
- Hands-on experience with user acquisition and engagement data analysis and insights, including social and web/app surfaces
- MBA Degree
