Facebook is hiring an experienced attorney to support the launch of augmented reality features and services for mobile and future wearable devices. The attorney will be part of the legal team supporting Facebook Reality Labs, which is building the future of connection within virtual and augmented reality.
In this role, you will advise executives, program managers and engineers on legal issues presented by augmented reality content and commerce, mobile applications, privacy and intellectual property. You will also negotiate technology transactions for teams in these areas. You will work with cross-functional partners both within Facebook’s legal department (such as privacy legal, compliance, M&A, and competition teams) and outside of it (such as policy, communications, and privacy & trust teams). You will join a rapidly growing team of talented lawyers and professionals which values diversity, and which emphasizes continuous development and career growth.
Responsibilities
- Providing product teams with legal advice across many subject areas, such as IP issues surrounding augmented content, privacy and data protection laws, device apps and terms of service, and other global legal frameworks
- Leading technology transactions, including licensing, development, and partnership agreements
- Coordinating with privacy, public policy, communications and other cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary issues
Minimum Qualification
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 5+ years of legal experience as an attorney, including at a law firm or in-house experience
Preferred Qualification
- Experience as product or commercial counsel for mobile or augmented reality applications
- In-house experience working for a consumer product or technology company
- Experience advising on a wide range of legal areas as they relate to software product or app feature development and launch
- Experience in IP issues affecting augmented reality content
- Experience in privacy
- Experience in technology transactions
- Experience in technical aspects of software and/or consumer electronics
