Facebook Reality Labs Research is dedicated to the research and development required to bring virtual and augmented reality to billions of people around the world. Every day, you will work alongside the world's leading Research Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Software Engineers to create the technology that will make VR and AR pervasive and universal.For this role, FRLR is looking for an exceptional Program Manager to join our team. Responsibilities
- Coordinating multiple parallel data capture efforts. Reviewing, balancing, and prioritizing requests from various stakeholders in the organization.
- Partnering with research leads to set goals, direction, and strategy for unique data capture systems. Translating that into goals, team schedules, and strategy in partnership with key team leads.
- Setting and maintaining expectations. Ensuring the team has a unified clear vision, understood goals, and expectations of progress.
- Keeping partners and stakeholders informed and involved. Being able to represent your program at a deep level throughout the org, to be able to build the appropriate communication channels both within and outside the team.
- Being responsible for the rules of reality. Ensuring work is adequately resourced and scoped. Effectively escalating or directly resolving resourcing issues to accomplish the teams mission.
- Keeping the team unblocked and effective. Ensuring the members of their team are able work at their highest potential and able to play to their strengths. That conflicts (both technical and interpersonal) have paths toward resolution to allow the team to move forward.
- Iterative process improvements. Leverage the least amount of process to accomplish the goal. Ask, "Is there a better way?“. Evaluate retrospectives to add, adjust, and remove processes based on learnings.
Minimum Qualification
- 3+ years of experience in an AR/VR research setting.
- 1+ years of program management experience.
- Experience with hardware and software integration, research data, and rapid development practices.
- Project management, leadership, task tracking, dependency management and cross-group collaboration experience.
- Experience leading a team from concept to completion of a program.
- Communication/presentation skills through all levels of the organization, technical and non-technical.
Preferred Qualification
- Experience tracking budgets and creating reliable quarterly estimates.
- Experience with machine learning and computer vision.
- Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of researchers, software engineers and hardware engineers.
- Demonstrable experience in risk management, managing sensitive data, assessing study risks and mitigating study risks.
- Experience developing study procedures and implementing staff training programs.
