Our team, FRL Devices Partner Engineering, is looking for an engineer who is passionate about Progressive Web Apps (aka PWA), Oculus platform and AR/VR technologies in general. The mission of this team is to leverage engineering and partner solutions to grow Oculus ecosystem in various aspects including productivity, gaming and media consumption. We also aim to help big and small developers thrive on our platform by providing constructive support and platform engineering solutions.As a Partner Engineer working on PWA apps, you will get the opportunity to work closely with our native VR browser engineering team and engage with some of our key partners in this space. Your responsibilities will include shipping new productivity solutions to our partners to help them address technical challenges, writing code to improve current PWA solutions in VR context and support strategic partner managers to grow/expand our partnerships. You will also represent Facebook at developer conferences and events. You may be required to develop technical accelerators, case studies, reference implementations or presentations to evangelize productivity solutions such as PWA in Oculus and their best practices. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in developing PWA applications, modern web technologies and browser engineering. Experience in developing applications under VR context would be a plus.
Responsibilities
- Deeply understand Oculus productivity products, underlying implementation and their correlation with the platform (i.e. native browser engine)
- Work with strategic partner managers and BD to define and execute business plans to drive productivity integrations
- Provide Thought Leadership, Evangelize Oculus Productivity services and share best practices through forums, conferences and events
- Develop reference architectures, samples and other materials to share with the broader Facebook/Oculus developer community
- Be a subject matter expert in relevant project/product and technology areas. Collaborate with engineering, product, and cross functional partners for product feedback
- Identify and surface insights using metrics on product usage to increase adoption and provide new solutions that address the needs of our partners
- Understand tools, concepts and processes related to Facebook family of apps, and underlying implementation
- Use broad range of technical and soft skills to build productive relationships with our partners, and independently resolve complex technical and business needs while contributing to partner documentation
- Use expertise and product insight to deliver high-quality project/integration/partner engagements, while sustaining self-driven productivity
- Work with VR Browser team, and other stakeholders to guide workflow changes, while driving toward productive solutions
- Respond and maintain effective communication with industry partners and internal stakeholders
- Work with partners to develop a long- term strategic plan, grounded on business objectives, and manage partners during implementations using PWA and Android
- Understand organizational structure and cross functional team dynamics and is able to get support from those teams as needed
- Build and manage strong working relationships with technical counterparts. Mentor and share knowledge with peers, creating positive atmosphere amongst team
Minimum Qualification
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer building and shipping products or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of building and shipping web products with Full Stack Web development experience
- B.A/B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
- Experience with open source languages such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, Python, Java, React
- Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with browser technologies (i.e. Chromium)
- Experience building and shipping native VR or WebXR applications. (i.e. Unity3D, A-Frame, React 360)
- Experience building and shipping apps on multiple android platforms (Google Play, Amazon etc.) and form factors (mobile, tablet, tv etc.)
- Experience working on Android Open Source Platform (AOSP)
- Experience working on multi-person code bases, open source or personal projects
- Experience in Open source contributions, especially as part of larger projects
- Experience contributing to developer and platform documentation
- Client/partner-facing and/or experience communicating to an audience is preferred
- Experience working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
