Position Summary
Radiology Partners (RP) is seeking a Clinical Imaging Integration Engineer with experience integrating Clinical Imaging applications (RIS, PACS, VR, AI Tools, EMR, etc.). This individual will have a strong understanding of different methods to integrate Clinical Applications in radiology and have extensive experience in doing so. The successful candidate will need to multi task, working on several integrations/projects simultaneously. He/she will be responsible for working in cross functional teams, breaking down complex concepts/problems to identify solutions. This individual must be proficient in documenting solutions including dataflow/workflow diagrams and supporting documentation for the medical imaging workflows at Radiology Partners. The candidate will also be responsible for managing and configuring DICOM routers to send copies of radiology studies to different locations based on specific rule sets and to train PACS administrators and other resources on Clinical System integrations and router configurations.
Position Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop integrations between different Clinical applications (RIS, PACS, VR, AI Tools, EMR, VNA’s, etc.)
- Build out, configure and mange different DICOM appliances (Laurel Bridge, DICOM Systems, home grown appliances, etc.)
- Assist in ensuring DICOM data is reaching different systems throughout RP
- Support data integration efforts across diverse data sources
- Creating workflows and dataflows to integrate with Cloud based AI tools and Structured Reporting systems, e.g. Modlink or GE ViewPoint
- Facilitate the ingestion of structured data back into PACS, VR systems and other Clinical Applications
- Define how to manipulate and route diagnostic image sets
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot PACS and associated devices and software
- Ability to assist Radiologists access and use data presented through integrations with other Clinical Applications
- Collaborate with the RP Product development team on sending DICOM data to Cloud based AI solutions and returning data generated from these tools to Clinical Systems to improve Radiologist workflow
- Ownership for creation and documentation of processes within assigned area
- Identify inefficiencies in end-to-end workflows and design appropriate solutions
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships to resolve issues, deliver upgrades and develop solutions
- Direct communication with outside vendors and in-house staff to reconcile data transfer problems
- Train end users including Radiologists within assigned area
- Develop image processing and routing algorithms using Python, Perl or other shell scripting languages
- Continually search for opportunities to automate workflows and streamline processes
Required Skills
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in an Information Systems or imaging-related discipline
- At least Eight (8) years’ experience with delivering high quality support services in a healthcare-oriented IT support environment, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
- In-depth knowledge of DICOM and DICOM Routers
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the roles and workflows within a Medical Imaging organization
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, shell, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of different imaging standards and formats (e.g. DICOM, HL7, IHE)
- Working knowledge of VPN (virtual private network) and NAT (network address translation) technologies
- Working knowledge of IT storage, networking and compute concepts
- In-depth knowledge of Radiologist and Rad tech workflow
- Working knowledge with radiology workstations (multiple monitors, Microsoft Windows, dictation mics, etc.)
- Experience working with and integrating Clinical Applications with AI tools
- Able to demonstrate the following:
- Effective communication skills - oral, written, and presentation
- Able to interact effectively with physicians, clinical staff, management, and vendor
- Interpersonal Skills
- Analytical thinker with proven problem solving skills
- Detail oriented
Desired Skills
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or imaging-related discipline
- CIIP certification is preferred
- Working knowledge and experience with Linux
- Able and interested in working a flexible schedule. We can work in the office, at our customer sites and on occasion from home.
- Able to wear many hats - in addition to primary job responsibilities, we may be cleaning out the IT storage room one day, assisting in updating workstation hardware / software the next and working side by side with our physicians and support staff to learn new software and troubleshoot daily issues
