Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in physics, optical engineering, related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience working in an engineering environment with a focus on developing optical components or systems
  • 2 years experience in design for manufacturing of prototype optical components or systems

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in physics or optical engineering
  • Experience working closely with optical component manufacturers to develop custom optical elements and sub-systems (especially experience with plastic injection molded optics)
  • Experience working with contract manufacturing partners to bring complex optical systems from prototype to production
  • Experience with a mathematical coding language (e.g. MATLAB, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with optical metrology equipment and techniques
  • Knowledge of optical design software (e.g. Optics Studio or CODE V)

Responsibilities

  • Design and perform tolerance analyses of optical components and systems to meet target specifications
  • Propose and design of novel optical systems and contribute to the the development of optical technologies
  • Work alongside opto-mechanical design engineers to design integrated optical systems
  • Measure and characterize optical components and systems using standard optical metrology equipment
  • Write automated data analysis and measurement scripts
