Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) focuses on connecting people through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of these products require custom silicon. The Facebook Agile Silicon Team (FAST) is driving the state-of- the-art forward with breakthroughs in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistor, through architecture, to firmware, and algorithms.

Facebook is looking for a Director of Silicon Accelerators for our consumer silicon team with excellent technical, communication and people management skills.

You will oversee teams of exceptionally talented silicon engineers building our unique Graphics, Computer Vision & Imaging, and Audio technologies. The role requires you to be an expert in one of chip design or accelerator design, and how to make them usable by software. You will work with each team to articulate a vision and a strategy for the team, and build a collaborative relationship with peers working in related domains across the company. You must become a trusted, strategic partner to stakeholders by communicating by delivering insights that lead to demonstrable product value.

Responsibilities
  • Lead teams working on accelerating FRL’s workloads, vertically and holistically looking at the problem from algorithm to transistor. Including architecture, digital-design and verification, and physical design
  • Develop a vision and strategy for delivering IPs across our family of consumer products
  • Work with cross-functional leads, including product managers, systems architects, researchers, and software architects, to develop a steady stream of industry leading accelerators aimed at the most impactful use cases
  • Recruit top talent
Minimum Qualification
  • MS in EE/CS or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in architecture or implementation of domain specific accelerators
  • Track record of successfully delivering SoC’s or accelerator IP’s into mass production
  • Track record of leadership (manager of managers, demonstrated experience scaling up your team, working across large organizations)
Preferred Qualification
  • PhD in EE/CS or equivalent
  • Successful track record of deploying novel low power architectures in high volume consumer electronics
  • Track record of building and leading large (100+) multi-site organizations
