The Mixed Reality Core Technology team is committed to revolutionize consumer electronic devices and redefining the way people interact with technology. We will continue bringing ground-breaking AR hardware into reality through shipping additional first-to-market products.

We are currently seeking a Principal Materials Engineer to address materials performance and reliability of our optical devices. Experience with reliability of piezoelectric materials and MEMS devices is strongly desired. A demonstrated history of leadership solving technical challenges is required, including problem identification, data analysis, action planning, and execution

Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership and problem solving for materials issue relating to novel micro-optical and micro-mechanical devices.
  • Develop reliability evaluation plans for new products, especially involving new materials and novel device structures.
  • Drive engagement with new vendors, generating specifications and program plans for evaluation.
  • Provide materials expertise to solve problems across the boarder team as needed.
  • Communicate technical issues effectively with senior leadership team
  • Directing internal and external materials analysis and characterizations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Ph. D. or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Physics, or similar field
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Direct experience leading technical teams in solving materials and/or reliability issues
  • A history of successfully driving external vendors and schedules

Direct Experience With

Preferred Qualifications
  • Thin film piezoelectric materials
  • Reliability of materials and reliability failure modeling
  • Micro electrical mechanical systems (MEMS), particularly related to materials and reliability issues.

Other

Fundamental understanding of common materials analysis and characterization techniques

Applicant must be able to travel (up to 25%) to design and manufacturing locations throughout the world to include Asia and Europe.
