General Summary

Qualcomm’s XR team is seeking a XR Toolkit Services Lead to join a talented and innovative team developing the next generation of Augmented and Virtual reality (XR) technologies. The XR Toolkit Services Lead will drive the architecture, development and deployment of Computer Vision (CV), AI, and Graphics based perception and immersion services (reprojection, lens corrections, etc.) that enable and enhance developer-facing XR SDK product(s). You will work closely with the XR toolkit architects to design frameworks to enable perception and immersion services across multiple deployment architectures (All-In-One, Split configurations, cloud assisted, etc.), and provide hands-on engineering leadership through deployment and commercialization. You must have a working knowledge of CV, AI, and Graphics pipelines in AR/VR, and a good understanding of factors to consider while deploying AR/VR products, such as latency, privacy, power and thermal limitations, and other usability requirements such as Motion To Photon latency, Motion to Render to Photon latency, etc.
Communications skills are key to success in this role, you must possess verbal and written skills that convey complex information to audiences with differing knowledge levels including high level internal constituents and have the ability to develop strong rapport and credibility to resolve conflicts and promote ideas persuasively and collaboratively. You will work with product managers and program managers to drive product release requirements and schedules, negotiate, influence, and build consensus on priorities, and successfully drive implementation and deployment of perception and immersion features into the product. You must be prepared to make decisions with imperfect information, know how to lead without authority and be comfortable managing in ambiguity, and complexity.

Ideal Candidates Should Demonstrate The Following
  • 10+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a AR/VR engineer deploying commercial grade software on head worn devices.
  • Deep knowledge of software architecture & design patterns
  • Proven experience with embedded Linux & Android software development at various layers
  • Knowledge of Khronos OpenXR specification a plus.

Develops, creates, and modifies general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions. Designs software or customizes software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team. Modifies existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Stores, retrieves, and manipulates data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements. Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Gathers, integrates, and interprets information across sub-systems from a variety of sources in order to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.
  • Serves as a technical expert within area of focus.
  • Identifies gaps in design, effort, etc., and closes the gaps.
  • Identifies risks associated with designs, approaches, and other work efforts.
  • Collaborates with others inside and outside of project team to accomplish project objectives.
  • Solves complex technical problems that affect significant areas of product.
  • Makes decisions based on incomplete, contradictory, and ambiguous requirements and information that affect policies and multiple teams in the software development process.
  • Manages project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for larger projects.
  • Acts as a tech lead on projects and owns the outcome of the project.
  • Leads others with technical credibility.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
  • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors - Computer Science, Bachelors - Engineering, Bachelors - Information Systems

Work Experiences

3+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. ,7+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.
