About Our Team
This will be a hands-on engineering role working at a customer site. This role will work directly with the customer's data center staff responsible for the Lenovo DM Storage Solution. The objectives will be to monitor and support all problem troubleshooting aspects of this system and to make and support preventative or corrective maintenance recommendations to the customer. Candidate must be a self-starter, team player, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate must be able to quickly establish business and technical credibility with the Client team. Our customer has dual vendor operation which will include both Lenovo and NetApp solutions. Therefore, the candidate’s success will also be determined by Lenovo’s ability to expand solution footprint based on outstanding DM support.

What You'll Do
- The primary function of this role will be to document and maintain DM configuration and establish alerting and monitoring procedures.
- Create cases within Lenovo support structure on behalf of the customer. These cases will include L1/L2 case for parts and/or SSR dispatch.
- Gather and analyze all requisite log, support and product information to support Action Plans.
- Drive all action and resolutions plan on behalf of the customer and Lenovo.
- Set proper expectations with the customer and Lenovo based on severity and business impact of the problem.
- Work with customer to establish Maintenance Window for upgrades, repair actions or other maintenance.
- Establish procedures for workload monitoring and balancing for optimal performance and stability.
- Diagnose, manage, and/or handle all aspects of hardware repair actions, including firmware and driver updates, as well as hardware part replacements. This responsibility will be conducted through the engineers own technical capability and utilization of the Lenovo service structure to open cases to receive CRU and FRU parts, and/or SSR support.
- Account management responsibilities will include quality reporting of technical issues, cases, and repair actions to both Lenovo and the customer teams.
- Serve as an advocate for Lenovo and our customer. The candidate will work closely with the Lenovo Account and extended team (DEV, PE, & Product Management) to ensure that the customer DM issues are handled expeditiously.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining NetApp Storage solutions in a production environment
- Experience with deploying new ONTAP system
- Understanding of OFFTAP products
- NetApp/Lenovo DM Support / Tuning
- Use of SAS/FC/Network analyzers/UART
- ThinkSystem/x86 HW Sup. Troubleshooting
- Experience with Window Server, RHEL, and VMware
- Working knowledge of Open Systems storage system technologies (Block, File(NFS/CIFS), and Object base storage architectures, storage protocols/standards (iSCSI, SAS, SCSI, Fibre Channel, Infiniband, FCoE, RoCE, iWarp, RDMA, NVMe) advanced functions (external virtualization, data compression, mirroring, data dedup), RAID technologies, and Erasure Coding.
- Working knowledge of operating systems that may exist in an Open Systems Environment (AIX, Solaris, SUSE, Debian, COS).
- This role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills for direct interaction and technical account management with the customer's Data Center Storage Team.
