The Avatars team is looking for a Product Designer to create end-to-end design mocks across VR, AR and mobile. These designs will be used to answer important questions, provoke and resolve debates, and gather important feedback. As a Product Designer, you will help build the Avatars system, the virtual identities that represent people across our family of apps. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your design and technical skills, work closely with talented cross-functional teams, create interactive AR/VR experiences, and build the future of online social interaction. You’ll be responsible for researching, designing and prototyping interactions. This is an exciting opportunity for a designer to focus on craft, cross-team collaboration, and both 3D and mobile design skills. You’ll work closely with Prototypers, Art, Content Design, User Research and other cross-functional partners to make your work come to life across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Define and synthesize user requirements
- Help establish design processes to align cross-functional teams
- Contribute to strategic decisions, working with engineering and research teams
- Design and create user experience prototypes and individually contribute to the feature set
- Work with user research to user test and iterate
- Give and solicit feedback from others to raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product
- Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers and content designers, overseeing the implementation of the user experience
- Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads
- Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
- Help build product strategy
- Advocate for product design within Facebook
- Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Minimum Qualification
- 5+ years of experience designing and shipping software products
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for user research
- Experience thinking at a high level about product strategy and vision
- Portfolio featuring examples of interaction and visual work
- Experience building prototypes in short timeframes
- Experience working with researchers
