Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of software development experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
- Software development experience in Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, or JavaScript.
- Experience in developing for mobile devices or experience in developing user-facing products (e.g., for mobile, wearables, web, consoles or desktop).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in Java or C++ or other languages/frameworks used in mobile app development (Kotlin, Dart/Flutter, JavaScript).
- Experience in human computer interaction, augmented/virtual reality, imaging/vision/perception, and/or machine learning.
- Experience in interacting with low level device capabilities and components.
- Knowledge/experience in one or more of (roughly ordered by importance): Android Apps, Mobile App Development, Mobile Development, Graphical User Interface, Google Mobile Apps, Google Mobile Services
- Interest and ability to learn new coding languages as needed.

As a Software Engineer, you will build user-facing experiences for phones and next-generation devices. Working closely with other engineers and in cross-functional teams, you will design, prototype, build, and launch new user experiences.
The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and launch user-facing experiences.
- Work closely with UX and PM to define, prototype, and test experiences with real users to discover what experiences users value the most and how to improve the experiences to provide more value to users.
- Plan and prioritize feature development with Engineers, Program & Product Managers, and User Experience.
- Lead development best practices and establish a healthy codebase.
