Job Summary

The VaaS Artificial Intelligence Manager is responsible for leading and delivering new and innovative solutions that are elegant and professional across the MFG IT organization with the goal of establishing and driving significant improvements in the Manufacturing space relative to manufacturing productivity/efficiency.

The VaaS Artificial Intelligence Manager will drive the identification, evaluation and adoption of rapid iterative and incremental synthetically generated data and augmented reality, mixed reality, and virtual reality solutions together with our Manufacturing Engineering business partners. The ideal candidate can embrace and lead Transformative Robotic Technologies, Simulation, and the delivery of turn-key solutions with a team of talented ML and game engine engineers.

Responsibilities

Additional Job Description
  • Definition and adoption of GM MFG IT Robotics/Vision capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to update and/or streamline the current VaaS Synthetic Data and AR/MR/VR Engineering processes
  • Track emerging technologies in the industry, and provide technology recommendations, risk assessments, trade studies, and analyses
  • Experience with Unreal game engine
  • Experience with 3D modeling and simulation
  • Experience in software development
  • Be able to critically apply themselves to solving problems in an interconnected and integrated environment
  • Must have the managerial courage to challenge the norm and define creative solutions for problems that arise
  • Think strategically about adopting new technologies that are beyond the horizon and deliver on sound architectural design
  • Create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture.
  • Mentor and develop technical talent from new college hires to very senior software engineers
  • Designing solutions at scale (minimize operational overhead)
  • Solve previously impossible tasks or reach unprecedented levels of throughput

Qualifications
  • 10+ years in the engineering industry.
  • A master’s in computer science with focus on computer vision, perception or robotics.
  • Very strong background in Visualization and Simulation.
  • Experience with ROS.
  • Knowledge in C, C++, Java/C#, Python, R, Go, SQL, OpenGL, TF, MQTT and GraphQL.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Experience in game development and/or developing simulation tools for generating synthetic data or visualizing 3d environments
  • Experience with hardware/software integration and working with mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Coaching and training technical staff on new and emerging technologies.
  • Experience leading software development teams.
  • Experience deploying and managing production software in a cloud environment.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and implementing algorithms from research papers to solve problems
