Position Overview: Directly reports to the company’s CFO. Key member in the Finance team and supports financial planning, business modeling, forecasting, and management reporting activities with the corporate controller and the business (budget owners). This role works cross-functionally with several departments within the company. This position can be remote or based out of our offices in San Francisco.
Responsibilities:
- Point of contact between Finance and Sales as it relates to bookings activity.
- Proactively and regularly report previous week (and period) bookings and revenue activity to provide Leadership ongoing visibility of top-line performance and variance to previous forecasts.
- Develop and regularly update revenue and bookings reporting packages to share with cross-department leadership to provide performance visibility and drive actionable next steps.
- Prepare end-of-period Bookings Activity Report for period-end close.
- Responsible for revenue data integrity between multiple systems: SaaS Optics and HubSpot and QuickBooks. Extract and maintain the quality and integrity of data stored in a database and other office tools that may apply. Maintain a 1:1 relationship between contracts in HubSpot and SaaS Optics.
- Identify revenue trends and pinpoint the drivers or root cause behind them; bring recommended solutions and changes to the table and assist in driving to execution.
- Become a subject matter expert on booking policy, sales process, and client engagement to ensure accurate and timely reporting of revenue. Help drive enforcement of bookings and revenue policies to ensure the organization stays compliant.
- Collaborate with the department leads to develop, track, and review revenue KPIs; be a point of reference for Sales, Marketing, Ops, and Finance around these KPIs. Identify new revenue, invoicing, and cash inflow-related metrics to assess operational performance. Create, maintain, optimize, and support new and existing reports of these metrics.
- Develop and implement revenue forecast models to provide visibility of client and business trends. Assist in the development of long-term bookings and revenue view, in partnership with CFO and other department leads, to aid in the FP&A strategy for the organization.
- Continue to find new and effective ways of forecasting and reporting revenue. Partner with end-users to translate reporting requirements into design documents; conduct report testing and validation.
- Proactively identify, develop, and implement process and systems improvements to achieve revenue reporting and forecast efficiencies. Maximize the use of systems and output through streamlined processes, and ongoing evaluation of enhancement opportunities through new features and add-ons
- Ensure accurate modeling and accounting of invoices and cash inflows. Provide CFO and Controller accurate and timely expectations of cash inflows to aid in the weekly cash forecast and FP&A processes
Contribute and Assist:
- Assist on initiatives focused on growth, scalability, and predictability in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Client Experience, Operations, and Finance.
- Coordinate efforts with Corporate Controller for reviewing new customer agreements to ensure they comply with the Corporate Bookings Policy and Corporate Revenue Policy.
- Liaise with Senior Accountant to prepare Customer Invoicing Reports and submit to Sales Operations.
- Partner with the Accounting team to ensure complete visibility of bookings, invoicing, and A/R activity. Maintain critical and ongoing collaboration to ensure visibility into cash inflows.
- Assist in the development of databases and reports based on standard operating processes.
Other FP&A Involvement:
- Support or lead ad hoc projects, as requested.
- Create analyses, commentary, and presentation materials as needed.
- Support the monthly accounting close process as needed.
- Collaborate with the broader Finance and Accounting team to achieve department goals and objectives.
- Assist with annual planning activities.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience as Manager or Director of Financial Planning and Analysis
- Highly analytical, with proven capabilities in data-intensive financial analysis backed by strong financial modeling skills in Excel.
- Experience managing work in SaaS Optics or related systems
- Proficiency with financial statement analysis and forecasting, including an understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting principles and the ability to communicate with experts.
- Experience managing / maintaining complex driver-based financial forecasts divisions or otherwise complex business structures.
- Experience working with sales and revenue operations teams
- Strong verbal and written presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex financial concepts simply and to tailor key messages and presentation style to multiple audiences.
- Approaches problem solving with natural intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Proven ability to execute on projects quickly and has a “get things done” mentality.
