Our work ranges from formative to evaluative, ethnography to usability. For this position, we are looking for a mixed method researcher, with strong skills in qualitative and design research methods and an understanding of quantitative concepts. The right candidates will be excellent communicators, comfortable in a flat, fast moving organization, excited to collaborate, and focused squarely on impacting the design of VR headsets at our client. The VR Platform Team is looking for someone to work with a large rolling research program to conduct studies to uncover user needs and design new software experiences for virtual reality. This role will mainly focus on qualitative studies (e.g., interviews, usability studies) with VR prototypes.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
  • Rolling research program that happens every month- manage the program and run research.
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods and a subset of quantitative methods, such as surveys
  • Work closely with product teams to define research topics
  • Help employ a rolling research program (iterative user testing) to provide early qualitative research insights and ensure accountability to these UX goals across the development lifecycle
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering and marketing
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways
  • The VR space is interesting, getting to work on a lot of different areas, art style, wide breadth of topics, working with very established researchers. collaborating with other UX researchers

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
  • Experienced in Usability studies
  • 5-6+ years of experiences working in UX Research, market research or a related field
  • Engage with other product researchers in the VR org and other client teams to ensure strong sharing and collaboration practices across client
  • Fairly experienced in quantitative research, Hardware VR prototypes
  • Strong in Project Management - keeping track of research topics, recruiting, coordination, support multiple teams, various topics, every round is different, communication is key
  • BA/BS degree in a human behavior related field (marketing, human computer interaction, Psychology, Linguistics, Anthropology, Social Science, Information Science, etc.)
Preferred Experience
  • Experienced in conducting studies with hardware prototypes
  • Experienced in conducting research with emergent technologies such as VR headsets, AR glasses
