GIGXR is a startup that uses mixed reality to drive training outcomes in healthcare, saving costs and saving lives. Our customers are medical and nursing schools, hospitals, the US Department of Defense and higher education. We work closely with app development partners in some of the most famous research and government institutions in the world to build exciting new innovations in mixed reality training.


Our XR Platform for instructor led medical training includes:

  • An XR Application Delivery Platform for medical training apps in a SaaS business model
  • A growing Catalogue of XR Healthcare training applications on the Platform
  • World class partnerships like the US DOD and Cambridge University that drive growth in APPs on the platform.


GIGXR is looking for a 3D Generalist to work on the new XR apps creating 2D/3D assets for the applications, prototyping in Unity and Adobe XD,  as well as contributing to the development of the user flow, interaction design and user interface. We're looking for people who have a start-up mentality: people who are creative, passionate, and inventive who can help us launch innovative products globally. Interest in AR/VR/XR is also an important factor.


Position 

This  role of the 3D Generalist will be to produce some simple 3D models for fantastic 3D UI/UX mockups that you will drive!  All of this while navigating through technical obstacles and continually prototyping in Unity and Adobe XD. A successful applicant will have an apprehension of 3D asset optimization and problem-solving for mobile platforms as well as experience with animation.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce general 2D and 3D assets including modelling, texturing, lighting, animation and asset sourcing.
  • Optimize content for performance and memory while maintaining standards for UX and solving technical challenges to deliver the highest quality experience.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of developers and product managers to produce the best graphics and deliver innovative XR solutions.
  • Optimize project in Unity engine to meet the performance requirements of mobile and headset AR/VR hardware.
  • Quickly conceptualize, prototype and implement functionality and design intentions.
  • A solid understanding of User Experience principles and ability to apply the knowledge in XR space.
  • Ability to completely own high-level projects from start to finish.
  • Continuously refresh job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art tools and technologies.


Technical Skills/Qualifications

  • 3+ years demonstrated modelling and animation experience in 3D Maya, 3Ds Max or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience as a 3D Generalist, Artist, Animator, Designer or similar role.
  • 1+ year experience working with Unity or Unreal.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as Graphic Design, Animation, VFX, Game Design, Computer Science, or a related or similar field.
  • Deep understanding of the UX principles and its application in XR for both headsets and mobile devices
  • Experience designing assets for mobile platforms (Android, iOS, HoloLens and desktop).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and XD or equivalent pipeline
  • Resourcefulness, diligence, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving skills.


Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience with authoring shaders
  • Experience in user research
  • Master’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience with Unity
  • Experience with versioning tools like Git, Sourcetree etc.
  • Past experience in medical animation/motion graphics design.
  • Ability to provide a portfolio demonstrating expertise in developing medical or educational 2D and 3D assets and animation.
