3D Virtual Reality Designer/Developer I

What You’ll Do
  • Create 3D assets for Augmented and Virtual Reality Applications to enhance program execution and new business efforts
  • Aid in Developing storyboards for immersive experiences
  • Convert 3D Models from CAD formats (.sldprt/.sldasm/.stl/.step/.rvt) into VR/AR engine formats (.fbx/.obj/.gltf)
  • Apply texture and lighting to 3D assets
  • Rig and Animate 3D Models
  • Model building architecture using point clouds created by laser scans or photogrammetry software
  • Work alongside the eXtended Reality (XR) Group to support new VR/AR projects
  • Support cross-functional team projects to improve business process effectiveness
  • Present and resolve any technical program difficulties or discrepancies with the team, customers, and subcontractors in a timely manner
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the SBU/SSU and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Strong modeling, texturing (including UV mapping), and lighting skills are required.
  • Expertise in 3DS Max/Maya.
  • A strong desire to learn and excellent work ethic.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team and solo environment.
  • Passion for creativity, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.
  • The following experience is a plus:
    • Experience working with SolidWorks
    • Experience creating rigging and animating models
    • Experience converting Point Clouds to 3D models
    • Experience working with Unity3D or Unreal Engine
    • Experience with VR/AR applications
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
  • Travel and local commute between campuses and other possible non company campuses
