The Facebook Reality Labs team at Facebook is developing future products in augmented reality and virtual reality with breakthrough work in computer vision and machine learning that will enable groundbreaking experiences for consumers and businesses. With global departments dedicated to FRL research, computer vision, haptics, social interaction, and more, Facebook is committed to driving the state-of-the-art forward through relentless innovation. As the TPM Manager for the Software integration team, you will be managing and growing a team of TPMs to lead product development, device launches and software releases, and drive highly cross-functional projects that shape the way our users interact with our devices. This includes working with core teams of software engineers, product managers, designers, release management and quality assurance as well as cross functional teams such as communications, marketing, legal, privacy and security. The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading large projects across multiple software teams, as well as building and growing teams. You will also have a proven track record of launching successful consumer products and managing ongoing software updates. You must be able to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to manage the team, develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for people management of the team, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, mentorship, coaching and career growth
- Turn software and product requirements into actionable plans that drive clarity, urgency, and alignment
- Develop durable and enforceable best practices and processes that enable the team to scale and operate efficiently
- Communicate with authority, clarity and precision to drive alignment with teams and cross-functional partners
- Identify resourcing and coverage gaps and act quickly to address those gaps
- Effectively collaborate, build relationships and influence team members to achieve product objectives
- Work with engineering, product, data, and design leadership to define and revise the long-term strategy for the FRL organization in the area of software integration
- Work with partner teams and leadership to ensure what we build has the right balance of cost, risk, benefit, and focus on addressing the highest priority team and customer needs
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical engineering or related experience
- Proven track record launching 1P/Gen1 consumer products
- Experience managing people, growing teams, and developing a team culture
- Fantastic communication and interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team
- Experience dealing with ambiguity and bringing clarity to the team
Preferred Qualification
- 10+ years of experience in technical program management, preferably in software development for consumer products
