Our team launched Quest 2 in 2020 - our fastest growing VR headset ever - that has already greatly surpassed the user base of the original Quest. Our platform has a thriving third party development ecosystem with multiple dozens of millions in revenue VR titles. Our mission is to deliver the platform building blocks to empower people to feel immersed and socially present in their virtual home. Our vision is to make Oculus Home a Destination, a place where people feel fully present and have access to everything they need in a socially connected general-purpose computing platform.On the System Destinations team, you will work on the core system to render real-time, interactive 3D graphics and process latency-critical events. You will help define system APIs and features that directly impact the way people build content for our platform and how our customers will experience and interact with the content.

Responsibilities
  • Technical leadership, designing and implementing core features of the platform.
  • Play a critical role in helping to set the direction and goals for the team.
  • Collaborate with designers, 3D artists, and other engineering teams to incorporate innovative features into the platform.
  • Design intuitive, coherent APIs for the platform.
  • Effectively explain technical problems with data and analysis and provide detailed feedback and solutions.
  • Continuously find opportunities to improve the platform’s performance and reliability.
  • Influence the engineering culture in the broader team and advocate for higher product quality and engineering efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineers.
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar field.
  • 8+ years experience in systems graphics & rendering technologies.
  • Object-oriented programming and system-level design skills.
  • Fluent in writing high performance, maintainable, robust C++ code.
  • Understanding of OS, graphics, input, and other subsystems.
  • Solid understanding of linear algebra.
  • Familiar with common UI Frameworks and their underlying architectures.
  • Experience thinking creatively to debug and tackle sophisticated, hard to reproduce problems.

Preferred Qualification
  • Solid understanding of the internals of modern 3D lighting, shadow algorithms, and other PBR rendering techniques.
  • Experience using image-based lighting environment maps and direct lighting.
  • Understanding of animation systems and basic physics engines.
