The AR/VR Research and Technology Partnerships team is seeking a Technology Partnerships Manager to lead research and technology partnerships at Facebook Reality Labs (formerly Oculus Research). Your job is to work with leading researchers and technologists to figure out who to partner with and the appropriate partnership framework, and how to define what virtual and augmented reality will look like 5 years in the future. You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team pushing on every aspect of the experience: haptics, audio, input, computer vision, optics, display technology, and whatever else we can dream up. Our mission is to keep advancing virtual and augmented reality; the work you do here will lay the foundation for VR/AR experiences for years to come.
Responsibilities
- Execute on partnerships for research and technology initiatives that can materially accelerate development cycles for VR and AR devices.
- Define, negotiate, and close complex IP and joint-development deals with startups, research centers, public companies, technology providers and other ecosystem players.
- Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, sourcing and engineering teams to negotiate deal terms, drive special projects, and advocate internally for partners.
- Develop technology and company landscapes in new technology areas, find and source new hardware and software technologies and companies.
- Contribute to Partner Intelligence efforts.
Minimum Qualification
- 12+ years of business development experience with a track record of building relationships with technology partners and bringing technologies to market.
- Experience with structuring and negotiating the business, technology and legal aspects of partnership agreements for service, development, joint development, inbound/outbound IP licensing, joint venture, and more.
- Experience in interpreting legal documents, negotiating contracts and working closely with attorneys and stakeholders to complete agreements.
- Experience in leading research and technology business development teams to orchestrate and complete deals.
Preferred Qualification
- BA/BS in a Computer or Engineering related discipline.
- Technical degree, JD or MBA.
- Familiarity with the AR/VR industry and the prescription eyewear business, with specific technical understanding of optometry/visual science, lens manufacturing, and related processing technologies.
- Track record in building partnerships for new hardware products including managing complex processes and negotiations end-to-end.
- Experience in establishing relationships and presence within the consumer electronics sector, consistently reaching and exceeding goals.
- Experience in operating with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and collaborative environment, and in working effectively cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
- Proven analytical, communication and presentation skills with business, technical, contractual and financial issues.
- Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented and highly organized.
