Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.

We are seeking a Research Scientist to support development of state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms for Computational Photography and Image Processing for AR/VR systems. In this role, you will be researching and developing technologies from early research concepts to products across Facebook's AR and VR products. You will be setting research directions for the projects you work on and will have the opportunities to collaborate with other researchers across Facebook AI. The ideal candidate will understand the state-of-the-art algorithms in the area of Computer Vision and/or Computational Photography, as well as how to build efficient Machine Learning models using those algorithms to run on-device. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
  • Enable enhanced image and video quality for AR/VR via innovative applications of Deep Learning techniques to problems such as Depth Estimation, Image Denoising, Super-Resolution, HDR, etc.
  • Enable new user experiences using novel image understanding and synthesis methods based on Deep Learning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional research and product teams in Computer Vision, Graphics and Machine Learning
  • Design extremely efficient deep learning models that can run on head-mounted devices within limited compute and power budget
  • Publish and present research at leading AI conferences and workshops
Minimum Qualification
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision or similar
