The Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) team is developing future products in augmented reality and virtual reality that will enable groundbreaking experiences for consumers and businesses. We are hiring for an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead System Navigation programs on the VR Platform Core Software development team. Core Software is a broad collection of cross-functional teams across infrastructure and front-end system work, all contributing to the end user experience of our VR headsets. The TPM role is key to coordinating efforts and driving impact across various functions and stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Design, QA, and more, to drive feature quality and execution from concept to release.In this role, we are looking for individuals with broad experience in software development and program management to lead System Navigation initiatives for the current and future generation VR devices. The System Navigation team builds and improves system-level features that help users more quickly access and efficiently navigate to their favorite VR experiences. The TPM will establish requirements with the internal team as well as cross-functional partners and dependent teams, manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders. We are looking for individuals who have a strong technical foundation, passion and intuition for system design, and are natural motivators, cross-functional relationship builders, and champions for driving the right level of process to ensure smooth and predictable program execution in a fast-paced innovative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of System Navigation software features across FRL’s current and future generation VR devices.
  • Understand product requirements, technical challenges, business needs, and develop a detailed roadmap and schedule based on those needs.
  • Manage communication across cross-functional teams to ensure smooth progress and information flow.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to identify constraints, set milestones, identify risks/dependencies, and dependencies, risks/issues, and communicate project status.
  • Drive planning and execution of delivering features by aligning front-end design and product requirements with engineering deliverables and constraints.
  • Hold teams accountable for quality and timeliness of software deliverables.
Minimum Qualification
  • BS in engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager managing software programs from inception to production, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with software development processes, best practices, and tools.
  • Experience leading large, cross-functional technical programs and teams.
  • Proven communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualification
  • Experience with system UX and design.
