Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is dedicated to the research and development required to bring augmented reality to people around the world. We are looking for a talented Software (SW) Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a technical background in the camera and multimedia space covering the needs of AR/VR video capture and rendering systems and who can contribute to products from definition through production. This role will also expose you to many cross functional teams and you will get experience building products for the future. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of highly technical TPM processes, as well as deep understanding of cameras, ISPs and videos systems, passion for systems software and embedded device architectures, familiarity with various OS architectures and programming models, and experience working on operating systems camera and video, as well as experience with shipping camera and video hardware/software products in the personal computing or consumer electronics space. You are the kind of TPM who has expertise driving and managing high performance teams creating highly reliable, robust, and performant systems software. You have hands-on experience coordinating and leading teams bringing up new camera hardware and software systems and have significant experience debugging and repairing complex, multi-component system level issues using a variety of OS, video, camera, and device debugging tools. You have the passion for shipping software to production following different stages of testing and certification.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the teams designing and implementing camera and multimedia software stacks
  • Help drive the team to solve the hard problems and debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues that typically span across multiple layers from BSP to application
  • Understand systems software components from multiple partner teams and lead the integration efforts of those components into the unified product code base
  • Coordinate and contribute to engineering deliverables including specifications and test plans
  • Develop project goals and schedules based on product requirements, technical challenges, and business needs
  • Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks, cutting through ambiguity and driving clarity
  • Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and product development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and available for staff and leadership review
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to identify constraints, dependencies, risks/issues, and to deliver software features
  • Identify resources needed and work closely with the team leads to maintain full visibility of multiple projects, ensuring resource gaps are addressed efficiently
  • Up to 15% travel
Minimum Qualification
  • Experience as a TPM leading Devs (SW/FW), QA and System Engineers working on different layers of the camera and multimedia protocol stacks, ISPs, video playback, etc.
  • Experience working on multiple camera and video spaces
  • Experience with Software Development processes including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing, debugging, and shipping embedded software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Track record of delivering products
  • 10+ years experience as a program manager working in a cross-functional software operating system or platform development environment or equivalent experience
  • Experience with software development processes and best practices
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams and dealing with ambiguity

Preferred Qualification
  • Experience with camera and video ISP architectures
  • Experience with camera and video tuning processes and protocols
  • Experience with video standards and policies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating systems internals on at least one platform
