We are the AI organization in FRL at Facebook that is building a trusted contextual helper for all realities - Augmented or Virtual. Our team is expanding and we’re looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will be responsible for driving programs through NLP, Dialog, Knowledge Graph, Search, Ranking, and other ML and Deep Learning foundational components. We are looking for a seasoned TPM with a proven track record of developing and shipping rich and intuitive AI driven consumer-facing products. This role will have the opportunity to work closely with a world class development team and leaders across the organization to build and bring together technology from multiple teams delivering trustworthy experiences into Facebook products (such as Portal, Oculus, and other Facebook surfaces). TPM candidate will have a deep understanding of what makes foundational components delivering to customer-focused product releases successful, that has a strong track record of performance, is energized by having impact, is passionate about user experience, drives data driven decisions, can handle a large volume of complex engagements across a vast array of partners, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Crucial to the success of this role is defining and scaling processes within the organization to enable our products to rapidly bring high quality experiences to our customers through our new hardware. Responsibilities include running a highly successful team and driving excellence across all releases, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders across a large number of teams to make this happen. Requirements include the ability to lead without authority, the ability and willingness to partner across disciplines to lead execution, escalation, and development of mitigation plans that ensure organizational commitments are on track and partner relationships are healthy and provide value on time. This requires daily collaboration with engineering, product management, data science, product quality, and other cross functional teams to strategically deliver our products. This requires focus on phases of the development cycle, mapping dependencies, managing schedules, identifying and tracking risks and clear communication to project stakeholders. The right candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering new cutting-edge technologies across products, driving communication and accountability upwards to leadership, across partner disciplines and organizations, and down into the teams delivering components into products.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functionally to define schedule, requirements, resource plans, integration plans, prioritize initiatives, and proactively identify/address potential setbacks.
  • Work with software engineering to deliver SW solutions/features in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain the team's focus on strategy and goal-oriented results when tackling complex problems.
  • Communicate program status, risks and mitigation plans to AR/VR solutions and executives.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and available for review by all parts of the organization.
Minimum Qualification
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience.
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience in delivering software solutions for any one of the following Assistant, ML, AI, data.
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.
  • Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.

Preferred Qualification
  • Experience developing multiple products, multiple customers, and multiple vendors concurrently.
  • Experience in coordinating and delivering multiple features into larger software products and services.
  • Entrepreneurial background or start-up experience.
