What We Do

As the Map Rendering team, we use our engineering skills and curiosity to push the boundaries of what’s possible with interactive maps and how people use location technologies in their daily lives. We work on a state-of-the-art web platform for map interaction and visualization used by millions of people around the globe.

What You’ll Do

• Work on mapbox-gl-js, the world’s leading vector map rendering engine.
• Work with cutting-edge browser technologies and an ambitious, modern codebase — using WebGL, Web Workers, ES6 with modules, Rollup, and Flow.
• Work with the Studio editor and backend API teams to build new products and workflows.
• Improve the project’s performance, stability, maintainability and simplicity.
• Build product prototypes and experiment with visualization techniques that benefit maps viewed by millions of users.

• Experience with server-side development using technologies like node.js and Express, AWS (we use Lambda, ECS, CloudFormation, DynamoDB, and more), SQL, NoSQL, Docker, Redis.
  

Helpful experience that is a plus but not a requirement:

• Building and maintaining stable APIs and documentation for an SDK or shared library
• TypeScript
• Location technologies (maps, GIS)
• Maintaining or contributing to open source projects.
