The Consumer Product Strategy & Insights team's mission is to drive strategic decisions that produce long-term growth for Facebook Inc.
We do so by closely understanding and monitoring trends driving our industry, identifying consumer needs, adding structure to ambiguous problems, and framing key decisions for our leaders. We work closely with product leaders and other cross-functional teams to define and translate our work into actionable insights to influence the long-term product roadmap.
As strategists, we are passionate about leveraging quantitative and qualitative signals to inform strategy. We’re looking for someone to lead and influence product strategy, with a focus on consumer products.
Successful candidates for this position will have or develop a deep understanding of the product landscape, including trends, players, technologies, and underlying dynamics. They will partner with cross-functional teams and communicate their insights and recommendations to product leaders and executives.
This role supports Facebook Reality Labs (FRL). FRL brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software and content. The team is building the tools and experiences that make people feel closer together. To date the product portfolio includes Oculus VR and Portal from Facebook, plus exciting new products currently under development in AR and more.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product leaders and cross-functional teams on initiatives to define the vision of where we want to go, how we get there and the tradeoffs associated
- Provide sophisticated research and analysis on market trends, customer behaviors, and opportunity sizing, to create business cases for product investment decisions, spanning build, buy, partner, and invest
- Identify new product opportunities or extensions, present and communicate actionable insights and recommendations to executives, and cross-functional partners, in order to influence product roadmap decisions
- Develop and maintain the role of a “trusted advisor” with product leaders and cross-functional partners to drive long-term impact
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Corporate Development, Product Marketing, Data Science, User Research etc.) to build insights and recommendations
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, analytics, engineering, or other related quantitative discipline from an institution
- 8+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, finance, business operations, corporate strategy, investment banking, or partnerships
- 2+ years of experience in developing or executing strategy projects involving AR/VR or emerging hardware products
- Experience in analytics and modeling, including advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint (or equivalent), and basic/moderate knowledge of SQL (or aptitude to learn quickly)
- Demonstrated experience structuring and solving product problems
Preferred Qualification
- Masters’ degree or equivalent in business, marketing, analytics, engineering, or other related quantitative discipline (e.g. MBA)
- 12+ years of experience with strategy development from either a consulting firm, corporate strategy group, investment bank, or in product management
- 4+ years of experience in developing or executing strategy projects involving AR/VR or emerging hardware products
- Experience with managing and leading teams
