Within QCT's Visual Technology Group in San Diego you will be responsible for developing systems and software solutions for Snapdragon Augmented and Virtual Reality systems. Key system components include cameras, inertial sensors, computer vision HW blocks, machine learning HW blocks, DSP, memory, GPU, CPU, codecs and the display processor.

Tasks Include
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to come up with optimal solutions for mobile devices supporting Augmented and Virtual Reality.
  • Design proof of concept heterogeneous software and hardware solutions for current and future chipsets along with tracing information to identify XR specific system issues and verify the potential of innovative new solutions.
  • Design models for timing, achievable compression, caching, CV performance and required bandwidths.
  • Write high level system design documents and feature descriptions to capture the agreed solutions.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience


Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience
  • 2+ years experience working in one or more multimedia technology areas (i.e., speech, audio, imaging, computer vision, display, sensing, biometrics, augmented/virtual reality)
  • Advanced virtual and augmented reality design concepts including low latency architectures, split processing architectures, reprojection/warping, head/eye/body tracking, environmental reconstruction, video see-through mixed reality, and spatial codecs.
  • Power/performance use case specification, modeling and optimization
  • CPU sub-system architecture, coprocessor interfaces, HW/SW partitioning, smart DMAs, HW compression
  • Excellent communication skills with cross-functional teams designing complex products
  • Knowledge of quantitatively assessing hardware implementation requirements of algorithms
  • Design and development of commercial software products for AR or VR head mounted systems
  • System performance analysis and KPI generation for commercial products informing hardware design
  • Advanced virtual and augmented reality rendering techniques in OpenGLES or Vulkan
  • Advanced knowledge of computer vision processing in hardware
