Position: Technical Contractor or Engineering Consultant

Focus: Augmented Reality (AR) / Heads-Up Display (HUD) / Optics

Description

Draco Intelligence, a Harvard-founded AR startup working with Olympic coaches and international cycling teams, is seeking a technical contractor or engineering consultant with expertise in HUD systems, waveguide displays, and AR hardware integration. This role will be instrumental in optimizing our next-generation AR cycling glasses, refining display systems, and shaping our engineering roadmap as we finalize the product.

This position is flexible, accommodating academic or professional schedules, and will begin in February 2025.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize HUD systems, waveguide displays, and AR optical technology to improve visibility and performance.
• Provide technical guidance on display integration, ensuring seamless alignment between hardware and software.
• Collaborate with a high-performance advisory network, including Olympic coaches and leading sports tech engineers.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in AR wearables, HUD systems, or optical engineering.
• Background in waveguides, lens design, display systems, or photonics.
• Knowledge of hardware/software integration for real-time display systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver actionable feedback.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, high-precision startup environment.

Compensation

• Hourly Rate: $30-$32/hour.
• Project-Based Rate: $100–$400 per project, depending on scope and complexity.

Location

• Remote, with optional in-person meetings in Cambridge, MA, or New York, NY, depending on availability.
