Job Title: Research Scientist IV (Machine Learning Engineer/Scientist)

Duration: 9 Months with a possibility of extension

Location: Burlingame, USA (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $90-92/hr on w2 with benefits

Job Description:

  • Client's Reality Labs Research team is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer/Scientist to work on next-generation AI and augmented reality (AR) technologies.
  • The role focuses on gesture recognition and multimodal machine learning using Client sensor technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in machine learning (ML) for time-series sensor data, computer vision (CV), software engineering, and hardware-software system integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and benchmark ML and CV models for applications such as gesture recognition, hand pose estimation, object detection, and contextual understanding.
  • Design and implement ML pipelines for dataset collection, preprocessing, model experimentation, and deployment.
  • Enable multimodal data collection by developing experimental protocols for human-subjects research and bringing up prototype wearable sensor software and hardware systems.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team to collect multimodal training datasets and develop real-time interaction demos.
  • Deliver high-quality code, maintain proper documentation, and provide updates through presentations and reports.

Required Qualifications:

Must Have Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in developing and evaluating ML/CV models.
  • 2+ years of experience in ML pipeline development, including data preprocessing, model experimentation, software integration, and real-time deployment.
  • 3+ years of coding experience with Python.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with data from physical sensing technologies (e.g., cameras,
  • physiological sensors, electromyography, lidar, radar, IMU)
  • Self-Supervise learning or Semi- supervise learning
  • Sensor Fusion
  • Experience working with data from physical sensing technologies (e.g., cameras, physiological sensors, electromyography, lidar, radar, IMU).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in computer vision, multimodal representation learning, self-supervised learning, semi-supervised learning, few-shot learning, transfer learning, sensor fusion.
  • Experience integrating multimodal ML models with Large Language Models (LLMs) for applications like activity recognition, image captioning, or question answering.
  • Experience developing data collection protocols for diverse sensor datasets from human participants.
  • Experience applying ML or signal processing techniques to noisy sensor data in real-time human-computer interaction applications.
