vrCAVE is a rapidly growing software startup company that has developed its own multiplayer virtual reality platform which is licensed to entertainment operators around the world. We have over 250 partner locations around the world using our products.

Role Description

vrCAVE is expanding its Virtual Reality products library. We are searching for energized team members who are excited about developing in this cutting-edge field. We are looking for a 3D Game Artist to turn sketches and grey box concepts into detailed but performant 3D models. The position involves various aspects of game development; from concept to finished product including asset creation and level-design.

This is a hybrid position: in-person on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, and remotely on Tuesday and Thursday. 6 month full-time employment with possible extension for an additional 12 months.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work independently to create detailed but performant 3D props, environments, animations and effects (Meshes, collision, UVs, textures, materials, animations, etc.)
  • Design and prototype greybox levels
  • Collaborate with programmers to guarantee assets function properly during gameplay
  • Modify and kitbash existing assets according to design specifications (including Porting from PCVR to Android-based standalone VR like Meta Quest)
  • Participate in playtesting, logging and fixing art-related bugs and issues


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience creating game-ready 3D art assets
  • Solid portfolio demonstrating common 3D game art practices and development
  • Skills in industry-standard 3D modeling, texturing and animation software such as: Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Cascedeur
  • Skills in both hard surface and organic modeling
  • Experience with high to low poly workflows
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Interest and eagerness in exploring new technology
  • Motivation to learn, and perseverance in solving complex issues
  • A passion for game art, visual fidelity and overall game development


The following would be considered and asset (but not strictly required):

  • 2D art, concept art experience
  • Familiarity developing games for VR (PC and standalone hardware, such as Meta Quest series, HTC VIVE Focus 3, HTC VIVE / VIVE Pro / Pro 2, and Valve Index)
  • Worked in a professional studio environment that has released at least one title
  • Familiarity with optimization techniques used for mobile game development
  • Experience programming with Unreal Blueprints
  • Experience with version control software (particularly Git)
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and general troubleshooting
  • Experience working with multiplayer video game client-server architecture
  • Up-to-date with the latest gaming trends, techniques, best practices and technologies
  • Have self-made at least one video game before (or a game mod)
  • High level knowledge of game design
