Summary/Purpose
The Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing the multimedia and digital learning environments at Summit Academy OIC. This includes the utilization and implementation of multimedia for the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, GED Adult Basic Education, and use of multimedia in Summit’s accredited trainings including Construction, Healthcare, Financial Services, and Information Technology. The Multimedia Specialist is a strong champion in integrating multimedia including utilizing CANVAS, a Learning Management System (LMS), to enrich the student learning experience. This individual will be proactive in engaging training managers and instructors in the use of multimedia in curriculum and instruction, and will seek to identify opportunities to engage employers to showcase real world applications. The Virtual Reality (VR) Lab will be a key vehicle for employer participation and hands-on learning. High-energy and passionate about the role of technology in education, the multimedia specialist will seek to introduce new ways of integrating the VR lab into the curriculum.
Essential Functions
Management and delivery of programming in Virtual Reality (VR) Lab
- Develop and implement VR-based training programs and simulations aligned with current training curriculum, partnering with Summit’s training managers and instructors to develop content.
- Oversee the daily operations of the VR Lab, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VR hardware and software. Manage VR equipment inventory and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Ensure the VR Lab is equipped with the latest technology and software updates and stay up-to-date on trends, integrating new learnings into program delivery.
- Partner with the training teams and employers to showcase usage of VR in real-world settings, maximizing employer engagement in the VR labs.
Promote the utilization of multimedia across GED, CTE and Best Buy Teen Tech Center
- Assist in the creation and curation of multimedia educational content, including videos, tutorials, and interactive modules.
- Collaborate with instructors to integrate multimedia tools into their curriculum and instruction
- Manage multimedia projects from inception to completion, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
- Coordinate with instructional staff and administration to identify multimedia needs and integrate solutions into the curriculum.
- Evaluate and recommend new multimedia technologies and tools to enhance the learning experience.
Lead trainings and the administration of multimedia across Summit Academy OIC
- Deliver trainings to training managers and instructors to utilize VR to maximize student learning
- Develop and maintain user manuals, guides, and online resources to support multimedia tool usage.
- Manage vendor relationships including identifying new software, implementing new technologies and partnering with existing IT suppliers.
- Partner with on-campus IT Services on installation, repairs of multimedia learning tools such as interactive whiteboards, video conferencing systems, and digital content creation tools, as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of multimedia equipment, software licenses, and usage statistics.
- Document and track any issues or incidents related to multimedia resources.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated experience with VR technology, Zoom, and other multimedia tools in an educational or professional setting.
- Strong technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with multimedia equipment and software.
- A passion for educational technology and a commitment to enhancing the learning experience for students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support diverse users.
- Experience in project management and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Supervisory Responsibility
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional postsecondary environment and will involve working in both the VR Lab and Zoom classrooms, as well as providing support across the school’s multimedia environments, including a Teen Tech Center.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special events or projects.
Physical Demands
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This position is full time and on campus. The hours are 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday.
Travel
This position does not require travel
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Arts, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Experience working in a vocational training or educational environment.
- Familiarity with additional multimedia tools and software, such as 3D modeling programs, video editing software, or gamification platforms.
- Certification or specialized training in VR technology or multimedia production.
