Sinn Studio Inc. is leading the charge in VR combat games! Debut game, Swordsman, is a physics-based combat game where you can slash your way through medieval earth to become the ultimate Swordsman. Having won multiple awards like Game of the Year in 2022, Best Swordfighting Game in 2020 and more. Swordsman also boasts top best seller in Quest and PSVR/2 platforms.
Sinn Studio is on the lookout for an Intermediate Concept Artist to join our team! As a Concept Artist, this role informs our projects' visual narrative with creativity and precision. Concept Art is pivotal in bringing immersive worlds to life with expressive simplicity. A keen eye for detail and effective grasp of fundamental skills, this role helps elevate our artistic standards, captivating audiences with enchanting characters and breathtaking settings. Responsibilities
- Create detailed designs that adhere to a high-quality standard based on provided briefs.
- Produce sketches and iterations efficiently, utilizing both traditional and digital methods.
- Use 2D and/or 3D assets to develop architectural, prop, character, and environmental designs.
- Provide lighting and compositional framing with XR sensibilities.
- Generate original and imaginative concept art to inspire the team and establish the game's tone and atmosphere.
- Refine concept art to detailed illustrations, adding layers of depth and detail.
- Research concept subjects, styles, and genres to inform design decisions.
- Communicate project vision through sketches, illustrations, and other assets.
- Collaborate closely with leadership and the Creative Director to align with the game's vision.
- Pitch concepts for locations, key moments, and aesthetics that define the game world.
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance all aspects of game production.
- Deliver artwork on schedule, adapting to feedback and evolving project needs.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and accept feedback from the production team.
- Multitask effectively, prioritize tasks, and adapt quickly to new challenges.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance visual fidelity and playable spaces.
- Create high-quality art assets that engage players and align with industry trends.
- Stay updated on industry trends and player preferences to ensure art remains captivating.
- Optimize art assets for various devices and technical constraints.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications

- 3-5+ years of experience in a Concept Artist role, demonstrating expertise and proficiency.
- Strong drawing skills, specializing in concept design, with a solid grasp of anatomy, costuming, and historical references.
- Proficient in portraying facial expressions, poses, gestures, and movements accurately.
- Ability to interpret and translate written briefs effectively into visual concepts.
- Familiarity with cinematic, XR, and gaming visual language:
- Evoke mood, establish character, and convey emotion utilizing: lighting, spatial awareness, shade, color theory, perspective, scale, and composition.
- Knowledgeable in architectural elements and capable of designing realistic environments.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, showcasing reliability and commitment.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Photoshop.
- Collaborative spirit, with exceptional teamwork skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to articulate ideas, designs, and creative processes effectively (ie. in presentations or updates)
- Creative and curious nature, demonstrating open-mindedness and flexibility in approach.
- Ability to iterate quickly, balancing between rough sketches and refined pieces while preserving the essence of the image.
- Problem-solving skills, with versatility adept at adapting to different styles and directions to align with artistic vision.
- Strong organizational skills, paying close attention to detail and maintaining high quality standards.
Added Advantages
- Experience with VR / MR.
- Background in XR.
- Post-secondary education in Fine Arts, Illustration, or other related fields.
- PC and console experience preferred over mobile.
- Proficiency in 3d industry standard applications such as Zbrush, 3DS Max, Substance painter, and Maya.
- Applied knowledge and experience in-engine (primarily Unreal Engine).
- An authentic understanding and passion about games / working in the industry.

Additional Information
Salary Range: $65-80,000 CAD annually + 3 weeks vacation, sick days, employer paid benefits (except LTD), Employee Assistance Program, wellness days, birthday day off, Employee Stock Options (ESOP) coming in 2024, and more.
As of the time of this posting, Sinn Studio lists the projected base salary range in good faith. A salary offered will be determined upon several factors such as: relevant experience, skillset, geographic location, and organizational critical needs.
Office Location: Liberty Village, Toronto
Work Structure: Preference will be given to local candidates or those who are willing to relocate to the Greater Toronto Area to work in a hybrid model with two days in office collaborating with local team members and our founders.
