Role Description

This is a contract role as a 3D Unreal Designer at Undercurrent XR Studios (Hybrid). As a 3D Unreal Designer, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to creating immersive XR experiences using Unreal Engine. This is a hybrid role, based in Los Angeles, CA, or Atlanta, GA with flexibility for some remote work.


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and Unreal Engine
  • 3+ years experience in broadcast design or game development
  • A compelling portfolio that exhibits a range of design work
  • Proficiency working in real-time rendering software, particularly Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing tools - Cinema 4D proficiency is a plus
  • Phenomenal organizational skills and motivation to work in a creative environment
  • Ability to work within strict timelines in an organized manner
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling platforms, Substance 3D, ZBrush, and any other design platforms
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree (preferred) in a relevant field (e.g., Game Design, Computer Science, Interactive Media) or equivalent experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in 3D design and Unreal Engine development


Additional qualifications that would be beneficial for this role include experience with animation, scripting, and shader development.


Responsibilities:


  • Creation of environments and assets using Cinema 4D and other 3d tools for use in the Unreal Engine
  • Model, texture, light, and rig assets and environments for AR/VR/XR executions
  • Work with creative and production teams to deploy, iterate, and test designs
  • Conceptualize and execute new AR/VR features
  • Design and implement animation control systems
  • Optimize scenes to maintain minimum performance levels
  • Assist in the development and implementation of testing procedures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Participate in ongoing workflow enhancements
  • Work with production and creative teams to enhance news content and increase visual storytelling through the unique capabilities of Virtual Production
  • Some travel required
