ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE

  • Employees perform within the prescribed limits of SEARHC Ethics and Compliance Program. Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer or hospital hotline.

Essential Functions

Patient Care:

  • Performs administrative duties including patient scheduling, patient prep education and maintains high quality services.
  • Exhibits caring attitude when relating to patients.
  • Assists with diagnostic exams (Chaperone)
  • Engages in professional and ethical conduct.
  • Manages digital images, including transferring information to and from electronic media and print documents using software such as Picture Archiving Communications (PACS).
  • Notifies appropriate staff regarding add-on exams, STAT cases.

Analysis And Communication

  • Communicates effectively with patients/families and all care providers.
  • Interacts with staff and co-workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships.
  • Checks the order for complete information and appropriateness criteria.
  • Obtains sufficient information to determine whether the procedure should be performed immediately or within a specific time frame.
  • Adheres to established section and organizational protocols. QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with coordinating work assignments to ensure a smooth workflow.

Imaging Exams

  • Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolations precautions when needed.
  • Verifies two patient identifiers.
  • Provide quality customer service, explains all studies to patients in a clear manner, provide information and resources to patient and family.
  • Safely transfers patients to and from carts, beds, and wheelchairs utilizing multiple lifting devices.
  • Positions the patient, ensuring patient comfort and modesty.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, well-stocked room.
  • Performs Xray exams under the limited scope radiology technician (LSRT) approved exams.
  • Performs DEXA exams when certified.
  • Performs ABI’s (Ankle-Brachial Indices) exams.

Other

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains licensure, certifications, and ongoing CEUs for professional development on a timely basis.

Secondary Functions

  • Attends department/organizational meetings, in-services, and disaster drills.

Additional Details

Education

  • High school diploma or GED – required.
  • Minimum: LSRT certification program or another Alaska qualified LSRT program.

Certification

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • The customs of the ethnic groups within the various Alaska Native geographic location and the ability to appreciate cultural differences and their effect on health care delivery.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy preferred.
  • Familiar with Medical terminology
  • Basic knowledge of sterile techniques, universal precautions, OSHA standards and personal radiation protection practices preferred.
  • Strong customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated & directed with regard to increasing level of understanding and knowledge.

  • Physical ability to lift and position patients and assist with patient transfers utilizing beds or stretchers.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Imaging Tech Aide: TIER I: Entry Level - Minimum Standards

  • Actively enrolled and attending a program for MA (SEARHC MA program), EMT

Imaging Trainee Assistant: TIER II

  • One year experience in Healthcare.
  • Completed SEARHC MA program or Certified MA, CMA, CHAP or CA III, or EMT certification.
  • Successful completion of the departmental annual competency evaluation.
  • Scheduling (MR, US, FL/XR, CT, Stress Echoes, Mammography, DEXA)
  • Well Health patient text timely communication.
  • Enrolled in LSRT program.

LSRT: TIER III

  • Certified Limited Scope Radiology Technician (LSRT).
  • Successful completion of the departmental annual competency evaluation.
  • Scheduling (MR, US, FL/XR, CT, Stress Echoes, Mammography, DEXA).
  • Well Health patient text timely communication.
  • No disciplinary action within past 6 months.
