Technical Artis (AR/VR)

Pay Rate: $45-55/Hr

Approved Locations: 100% remote; anywhere in US

Schedule: Full-time, M-F, normal business hours

Duration: Initial 12-month W2 contract; extensions/conversion based on performance

Start: Targeting April 2024

Summary:


Seeking a technical artist to assist with building of 3D simulations of people, places, and things for computer vision Client synthetic data. Our simulations provide data to power Client capabilities for VR and AR devices. The team works on cutting-edge rendering and simulation features running at scale. We are looking for candidates who share a passion for tackling complexity and working in a multidisciplinary org.


HM Feedback:


  • Previous applications generally lacked technical aptitude - this is a role where we're looking to validate the quality of 3d objects on the scale of thousands of objects, so our ideal candidate is someone who has QA experience, 3d application proficiency (maya / blender), unreal game engine proficiency (not just Unity), and coding proficiency
  • A "VR developer” archetype does not fit this role, our role focuses on high realism and is a closer match to high-quality AAA gaming skill set


Job Responsibilities:


  • Partner closely with the engineering and technical art teams in defining and developing content
  • Perform content validation & quality verification of 3D objects across multiple content sources
  • Assist in building of simulation features & content verification tooling
  • Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety technical and artistic tasks
  • Quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads
  • Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment


Skills:


  • (Must have) 3D art development
  • (Must-have) Proficiency working with Unreal Engine
  • (Must-have) Shipping product experience from beginning to end
  • (Nice-to-have) Previous experience in synthetic data
  • (Nice-to-have) Coding in Python
  • (Nice-to-have) Familiarity with Houdini, 3D application
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills; communication across teams including engineers and artists
  • Proficient ability to work independently and manage one's time.
  • Proficient in-game profiling and optimization techniques
  • Experience shipping products with stringent runtime performance constraints, such as complex mobile or 3D applications or AAA games


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience
