The Department of Interactive Media at Bradley University seeks a dynamic individual to join our award-winning and nationally ranked department as a Front End Extended Reality (XR) Developer on a government awarded subcontract. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

This is a non-exempt (hourly) position, working a minimum 30 hours per week and is 100% externally funded, subject to external funding for a maximum of 3 years. Incumbent may work remotely.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years professional development experience working with established companies. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing immersive 3D applications and experiences using technologies such as Unity and the Microsoft HoloLens. Your expertise in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) solutions will be crucial in creating engaging and interactive user experiences.

A Successful Candidate Should Possess Experience In

  • Preparing 3D models for integration into a rendered environment
  • The application of UX and UI designs in XR
  • Recommending strategies and developing features/capabilities for new and existing systems.
  • Technical Design, Code Reviews, and Style Guide Development
  • Industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python
  • Real-time Object Tracking in XR
  • Using Agile software development methods in a DevOps environment

Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Working closely with a small team to design, code, review, and test software features optimized for use on mobile and AR platforms
  • Monitoring scientific literature for innovations that can be adapted for our use cases
  • Working hands-on with the latest AR hardware and system components to test and validate new features across platforms
  • The candidate must have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies and their applications in software development. Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent presentation skills are also desired. Experience in research and development of cutting edge technologies, the Unity development platform, the Microsoft HoloLens, and Git is preferred.

Appointment requires a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent years of experience and evidence of successful production experience in creative works and/or industry. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
