Future Colossal, an award-winning innovation lab for experiential technologies in advertising, entertainment, and art is seeking an Experience Tester / QA Tech.

The QA Tech will physically test and guarantee quality on every experience we produce for our clients, across a range of experiential projects, with the goal to detect and report on all user experience, software, and hardware issues. This role is for someone who is thorough, organized, pays attention to the smallest details, and has high quality standards for a flawless user experience.

As our experiences are built to be fun and impactful, this person should value physically interacting and 'playing' with the tech we build, as much as they value detailed documentation and using a methodical approach to testing. Projects will cover a wide range of physically interactive experiences, game development, XR, mobile apps, robotics, custom built electronics, computer vision, AI, industrial design, and fabrication. We don't expect you to have expertise in all of these areas directly, but you should feel comfortable finding the best approach for testing each element, and be confident in your ability to learn more if needed for a project.

Responsibilities

Create project testing plans and test cases; prioritize and execute testing against project test cases

Test the boundaries of experiences for ease of use and user experience issues across a wide variety of user types and use cases; make suggestions for improvement

Test physical, electrical, and digital components for potential breakpoints for long-term durability and stability

Find and log bugs in software, hardware, and design assets; prepare QA summary reports with pass/fail results

Work closely with project management, design, and development team members to verify reported issues are resolved and all project components meet company and client quality standards ahead of public launch

Support projects through completion, which could sometimes require travel to install locations, including on some weekends and holidays, depending on project schedule

Measure success of production and make data driven suggestions to workflow updates that increase project reliability

Identify and drive workflow, process, and automation improvement opportunities to formulate creative or technical solutions to a wide variety of project challenges

Requirements

Skill Requirements:

Knowledge of testing methods, tools, and documentation

Previous experience in a QA role or formal QA training

Ability to create a testing approach for a variety of project types based on scope requirements

Strong understanding of User Experience design for touch and motion based experiences

Easily pick-up on using new technologies, softwares, and UI's

Process oriented, organized, and methodical with attention to small details and high quality standards

Successful in high pressure responsibilities, able to prioritize multiple projects, self-directed, and highly motivated

Basic understanding of development (Unity 3D, C#, C++), hardware, and electronics (Arduino, circuit building, soldering) capabilities and how they work

Possess excellent communication skills

Passionate about exploring new technologies, staying on the forefront of what’s next

Bonus Points

Experience with automated testing and/or writing test scripts

Experience in development or QA for Unity, Openframeworks, and/or C++

Electrical engineering education, training, or employment

Formal UX training

IT knowledge (networking, computer building, Windows)

AV knowledge (displays, wiring, power, mounting, lighting)

3D modeling and/or animation experience

Fabrication experience
