Sinn Studio Inc. is leading the charge in VR combat games! Debut game, Swordsman, is a physics-based combat game where you can slash your way through medieval earth to become the ultimate Swordsman. Having won multiple awards like Game of the Year in 2022, Best Swordfighting Game in 2020 and more. Swordsman also boasts top best seller in Quest and PSVR/2 platforms.

Sinn Studio is looking for an IT Manager to join the team to help lead the charge on set-up, continuity and support for the IT operations at the studio. The successful incumbent will ensure security and other IT infrastructure risks are reduced, and suggest and maintain optimal best practices to meet organizational needs. They will address and support in a hands-on manner and will be proactively action oriented to improve and maintain IT process and practices. We are looking for someone who will enrich the studio with the standards they set in their practice and their collaboration efforts – all in a space where they will be encouraged and supported to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Offer on-site and remote technical support to the Sinn Studio team swiftly with technical expertise (ie. on hardware performance, storage, and software incidents)
  • As the IT primary point of contact, lead employee equipment configurations and deployment for work environments
  • Active on incident and request management
  • Optimize IT budgets and costs and propose any streamlined tactics
  • Lead IT systems and network infrastructure, their continued construction, all with comprehensive understanding
  • Ensure IT standards are high impact and in line for the needs/context of the workplace and for XR / gaming pipelines
  • Help benchmark and analyze the health of IT systems and services and define any proposals for any upcoming needs
  • Reinforce and apply approved best practices and standards for security in cyber and physical spaces
  • Provide technical leadership where necessary including for certain goals and objectives
  • Manage technical projects for IT operations
  • Take ownership of critical incident management including responses, leading necessary restorative actions, and help mitigate root causes
  • Deliver and establish reports, requirement documentation, and/or presentations
  • Ensure knowledge is maintained studio-wide through training and resources for a culture of excellence
  • Have ongoing communications regarding IT activities with necessary internal and external stakeholders
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships to maintain rapport and understand the needs of stakeholders working with
  • Monitor and improve IT processes and practices
  • Stay up to date with IT developments and emerging technologies
  • Be reachable for emergencies to help in security and mitigations regarding IT
  • Regular recurring troubleshooting on IT assets, including documenting any new unexplored problems
  • Help maintain and track the IT asset inventory and utilization in an orderly fashion
  • Other related duties as required

  • 5-8+ years of experience in information technology or technical operations positions
  • 3-5+ years of experience in hands-on IT management / leadership
  • Proven experience in high pressure situations and able to make critical decisions during them
  • Knowledge of business continuity, security and disaster recovery
  • Skilled broadly in hardware, software, infrastructure, architecture and other IT areas
  • Experience in hardware provisioning and asset management
  • Leadership mindset with a team-building attitude
  • Exceptional understanding of technological support and customer service
  • Strong skill set in support methodologies that are industry standard
  • Strong problem solving and diagnostic skills (including troubleshooting and maintenance)
  • Flexible for support when needed outside of core working hours
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment
  • Ability to provide and seek feedback
  • Excellent interpersonal communicator (verbal and written) in technical and non-technical terms
  • Able to mentor other team members
  • Proven ability in documentation, training, and presentations

  • Background in XR technologies
  • Knowledge in scripting
  • Technical certifications are an asset
  • Post-secondary education in information technology or other related fields
  • An authentic understanding and passion about games / working in the industry

Additional Information

Salary Range: $110,000-120,000 CAD annually + 3 weeks vacation, sick days, employer paid benefits (except LTD), Employee Assistance Program, wellness days, birthday day off, Employee Stock Options (ESOP) coming in early 2024, and more.

As of the time of this posting, Sinn Studio lists the projected base salary range in good faith. A salary offered will be determined upon several factors such as: relevant experience, skillset, geographic location, and organizational critical needs.

Office Location: Liberty Village, Toronto

Work Structure: This is a hybrid position to work days in office (incumbents who are willing to relocate to or reside around the Greater Toronto Area) for both on-site support as well as collaborating with local team members and our founders.
