Meta Reality Labs Research (RL Research) brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The Surreal Vision group at RL Research is seeking exceptional research scientists to solve research challenges on the path to building future machine perception enabled technologies. The aim of this role is to develop and advance computer vision algorithms and SW systems for contextualized AI.

Research Engineer, Machine Perception Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute cutting edge development to advance the state of the art in machine perception and contextualized AI
  • Develop and prototype advanced tightly integrated hardware and software technologies in the domain of computer vision
  • Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across both machine and human perception teams at Meta to develop experiments, prototypes, and concepts that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems
  • Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments related to large scale long-duration sensing and machine reasoning

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ year experiences in C++ and Python
  • Experience in any of the following fields: Computer Vision, Mapping & Localization, Hand tracking, Object tracking, or a related field
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree
  • Hands-on experience with integrating 3D computer vision algorithms into realtime prototypes
  • Experience with designing (products or open-source/Git software) of Mapping & Localization, Hand tracking, Object tracking algorithms
  • Experience in modern GPU programming (CUDA, OpenGL, OpenCL, DirectX)
  • Publication in leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, ICCP, RSS, ICRA, etc.
