Overview

Veeco Instruments is looking for a high caliber and motivated Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering Group. As part of this group, the individual will drive development activities to enable next-generation product platforms and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of technologies for semiconductor equipment systems including Ion Beam Deposition, Etch and other platforms targeting a variety of applications.
  • Work hands-on with building, testing, troubleshooting, and generating testing reports of related high vacuum process equipment.
  • Develop concepts as well as drive design and testing of new components/sub-systems across product lines. This includes the design of advanced systems related high vacuum process equipment.
  • Determine the system/component specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Perform advanced data and statistical analysis to study system and process output signals and subsequently identify and/or resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with mechanical/electrical engineering, marketing, field support, and supply chain groups in carrying out system development and improvements. Work closely with the process development group to set up and assess the performance of experimental prototypes.
  • Use problem-solving methods and systems analysis to break down and solve complex problems.
  • Document results through technical status reports.
  • Assist in marathon testing and/or beta site testing at system/sub-system level and analyze field-performance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 15% internationally and domestically.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering or System Technician role or a Master’s degree and 3+ years of related experience is required. Experience with design of semiconductor or compound semiconductor sub-systems is preferred as is a working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of electro-mechanical systems is required
  • Hands-on ability to assemble/disassemble complex parts and prototyping/testing experience required
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex concepts and analysis
  • Hands on experience with High Vacuum Process Equipment including leak detection is preferred
  • Experience with Test Equipment
  • Working knowledge of control systems, high temperature, and low-pressure system design
  • Experience in semiconductor wafer automations and handling is helpful

The expected salary range for this position is $93,000 - $118,000 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
