The NISC IV program at Leidos is looking for an Virtual Reality Developer!

The NISC IV program within Leidos Civil Group is seeking a candidate with software development skills to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with 3D Modeling, Extended Reality (XR), and Virtual Reality (VR) of Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) siting projects. The VR / XR programmer will develop stand-alone interactive experiences specifically for ATCT siting’s and air traffic facility equipment layouts. This will involve utilizing the Unreal engine for ATCT’s and creating code for immersive interactive supplemental products through the use of VR equipment to support the unique requirements of the siting team.

Routine duties will include:

  • Develop realistic and immersive VR experiences, leveraging Unreal Engine.
  • Candidate will be required to bring to life digital models that include but not limited to, airports, Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT), aircraft, airport vehicles, ATCT equipment, environmental elements such as (trees, sky, water, landscapes and weather) for PC and VR.
  • Work with a team of 3D modelers and VR/XR developers to design features ranging from technical, visual, and artistic.
  • Contribute ideas toward all aspects of the final product’s development.
  • Serve as a voice of expertise in VR and VR development willing to mentor and share your knowledge of the Unreal engine internally.

Please Note: Position is 100% remote.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong level of understanding of all aspects of the Unreal editor, Blueprint coding, and Unreal Engine 5. (C++ experience is a plus).
  • Must have experience designing and programing custom UI menus within UE5.
  • Experience creating animations in UE5, specifically spline based animations.
  • Must possess 4-8 years of direct experience utilizing Unreal Engine on professional projects in the video game industry, architecture, training, and simulation or transportation industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience OR Masters degree with 6 years of relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience maybe considered or accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Deep understanding at developing dynamic gameplay-related systems.
  • Ability to debug and optimize code as well as scene optimization to achieve peak performance without compromising visual quality.
  • Experience with the Cesium and the Georeferencing plugins for the Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with scripting languages and component-based game engines.
  • A seasoned programmer who can execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experienced working under tight deadlines, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience developing for both single player and multiplayer game play environments.
  • Strong knowledge of VR and PC development fundamentals.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills with a proactive team-oriented mindset.
  • Desire to both teach others and learn new techniques in the Unreal Engine.
  • Strong work ethic that strives for continuous process improvement and production efficiency.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic cross-functional environment in a 100% remote working environment.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years of the past 5 years consecutively with no breaks).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
